Welcome to Good Shepherd Baptist Church. If you have had the opportunity to visit us, we pray that our church family greeted you with a warm welcome. We hope that the experience encouraged your heart to want to worship God here as a member.
How can I join?
Any person may become a member of the church who acknowledges Christ as Lord of his or her life; who has trusted Christ alone for salvation.
Here are few simple steps:
Present yourself for membership during any Worship Service or other church gathering when the invitation is extended after the message.
A minister will invite anyone who wishes to become a member to the front of the church. A minister will be there to greet you and pray with you. A member of our church family will visit with you to record some information. (i.e., name, address, etc).
I. There are several ways to become a member:
BAPTISM: After confessing and accepting Jesus as your personal Savior according to Romans10:9 you will become a candidate for baptism. We welcome you to invite your family and friends to witness this celebration of your new life in Christ Jesus.
CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCE: The potential member has confessed Jesus Christ as his or her personal Savior and has been baptized according to the doctrine of this church. The candidate is welcome to become a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church under Christian Experience after the right hand of fellowship.
BY LETTER: When a member is transferred from another church and a letter is sent from the respective church of the individual confirming the candidate left in good standing.
RESTORATION: A member who was once a member in good standing here at GSBC, but has been estranged from the church for whatever reason(s) for more than 3 months, but wants to RESTORE his/her membership with GSBC.
WATCHCARE: Under our Watchcare program we welcome you upon statement of salvation experience in Christ. This does not affect your membership at your home church, but gives you a church home and Christion fellowship in Cleveland, Ohio. Watchcare members are afforded all the privileges of regular membership with the exception of being able to hold offices and voting.
II. Complete NEW MEMBERSHIP CLASSES:
We believe that it is imperative that all who seek a relationship with Jesus Christ and HIS church are informed of our biblical beliefs including doctrine, and statement of Faith. It is the concern and responsibility of our Pastor to ensure that we are all on one accord as fellow laborers within the body of Christ. Our New Members Classes are offered on Sunday mornings at 9:30am and all NEW MEMBERS are required to attend.
