Good Shepherd Baptist Church Ministries

Announcement Committee:

Leader – Sis. Alvenia Jones
A group of men and women dedicated to reading the weekly announcements to the congregation and giving an encouraging word to start our week. Meeting times are every 4th Sunday at 1:30 pm.

Audio/Visual Department:

Leader – Bro. Bruce Keene

A ministry of men and women who are responsible for the video and audio recording of the Sunday worship service. They also control the sound for the activities within the Sanctuary.

Cleveland School of the Bible:

Leader – Deacon Jerome White
A school established to equip Christians to serve effectively as pastors, bible teachers, missionaries and all who have a desire to learn more about the Bible. Classes are held on Tuesdays from 7-9 pm

Education Focus Committee:

Leader –
An organization established to provide support, direction and growth in three areas: Spiritual, Educational and Cultural. Offers students a Christian perspective of encouragement and desire to excel in the career path of their choice, remembering to place God first. Meeting times are every 3rd Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

Greeters:

Leader – Bro. Ken Haynes

M.B.K. Men’s Fellowship:

Leader – Bro. Robert Burks
The purpose is to provide for the fellowship, unity and involvement of Men both in and outside of the local church, within our homes, with our families and within the world in which we live. Our fellowship will help men become all that our GOD commands us to be, making full proof of our ministry. Meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of every month at 7 pm.

Nurses Guild:

Leader – Sis. Barbara Brown
A ministry of men and women with a desire to volunteer their services within the Lord’s church to aid and educate the people in matters of health. “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” III John 3. Meetings held 1st Saturday of the month – 10:00 am.

Social Ministry:

Leader – Joana Betts & Ruby Davis
A ministry that is designed to prepare meals and offer hospitality for different auxiliaries upon request for various outings and/or functions.

Sunday School:

Leader – Deacon Floyd Morgan
Tools used to enhance our studies in the Word of God. Our primary goal is to possess the proper words and scriptures to be able to effectively “Get the Word of God to the People”. Sunday school classes take place every Sunday from 9:30 – 10:30 am.

Transportation Ministry:
Leader – Bro. David Malone

Usher Board/ Jr. Usher Board:

Leader – Bro. Richard Johnson Sr.
Meetings: 2nd Tuesdays of the month at 6:30 pm.

Jr. Usher Board
Leader – Bro. Kenneth Smith
Meetings: 4th Saturday of the month at 12 noon.
Youth ages 8-16.
Psalm 84:10 “For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a door keeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.”

Vacation Bible School:

Leader –
A one week Summer Bible Program providing Bible lessons, arts, crafts, music and drama for Pre-K – Adults.

Well Spring Ministry:

Leader – Sis. Geraldine Douglas
Christian stewards providing information on health and wellness concerns while helping all to understand the relationship between spiritual and physical well-being.

Women’s Ministry:

Leader–
All women of the church body are automatic members of this auxiliary. This ministry is designed to encourage women in their spiritual walk through life. Attend conferences to enhance our knowledge on Christian affairs so that we are able to minister to others. Meeting times are every 2nd Friday from 7-8:30 pm.

– Youth Ministries –

AWANA Clubs:

Leader – Bro. Terrence & Christy Thomas
The AWANA is a weekly club program for young people. Our prayer in Awana is that all children and youth throughout the world will come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. The AWANA clubs are designed for children ages 2 – 12 years old. Club meetings are on Thursday nights from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

AWANA: (Junior Varsity & Varsity Clubs)
Junior Varsity clubs for 7th & 8th grade and Varsity clubs for teen’s 9th – 12th grade. Meeting on Tuesday nights from 7 – 9 pm. This Bible study is geared for young people who have a hunger for God’s word. Designed for young people who are committed to at least 2 – 3 hours per week in reading and reciting God’s Word.

Children of the King Ministry:
For children ages 8 – 12 years of age. Children bible lessons take place each Sunday from 9:30 – 10:30am and during the 8:00am and 10:45am services.

Mime Ministry:
Advisor:
The use of non-verbal communication and body movement through spiritual music and dance to win souls for Christ. Practice: Saturdays 12 Noon to 2:00pm.

 

Nursery Ministry:
Leaders – Sis. Sharisse Torbert
For children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Childcare and Bible lesson is provided each Sunday during the Sunday School and our 10:45 am service.

Teen Ministry:

11:00 a.m. Educational Building – Fellowship Hall

 

– Missions Department –

Door To Door Ministry:
Leaders –
A ministry of men and women that walk door to door in the community that speaks to the people in an effort to win souls to Christ. Meet April through September on Saturdays at 11 am.

Grief Support Group Ministry:
Leader – Sis. Paula Sizemore
We stand on faith that God has blessed us with the desire to care for the hurting. We are available, ready and willing to offer intercessory prayer during or in between our group sessions. We are here for individuals to provide an environment of group support for eight to ten week session and to be surrounded with others who have experience a loss of a loved one. II Corinthians 1:3-4. Sessions are held in the spring and fall of each year. Session: TBA – Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm.

International Missions:
Leader – Mother Rose Dykes
“Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever all things I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:19-20)

 

Mom’s In Touch:
Leader – Sis. Anita McKaney
A group of Christian Mothers who meet for one hour each week to pray for their children, the school, teachers and staff. Psalms 138:3 “In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.” Meeting: Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm.

Nursing Home Ministry:
Leader – Larry McGhee
A ministry designed to visit the sick and afflicted in their homes and encourages them in the strength and power of the Lord.

Prayer Intercessors:
Leader – Sis. Felicia Powell
A dedicated group of people that have a calling to collectively pray for and with those in need. Prayer is one of the most powerful tools that a Christian has in his or her arsenal. Meeting times are the 1st Friday of each month at 7:00 pm.

Prison Ministry:
Leader –
A ministry with the goal of getting the Word of to all people. We visit incarcerated men and women
with the intent of winning souls for Christ.

Safe Refuge Ministry:
Leader – Sis. Lori Williams

(Adult Choir, Male Chorus, Mighty Voices of Victory, Praise & Worship Team, Women’s Day Choir, Teen Choir, Teen Praise & Worship Team, Children’s Choir and Faith)

Adult Choir:
Leader – Sis. Katherine Gilbert
Psalm 34:1 – Our goal as mature adults is to get the word of God to the people through our song ministry. Rehearsal: Tuesday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.

Children’s Choir:
Leader – Sis. Donna Butler
A ministry of children from age 3 to 12 that have a desire to proclaim the Lord’s praises in song. Rehearsal: 3rd & 4th Saturday’s – 12 Noon. Minister in song on the 3rd and 5th Sundays.

Faith:
Leader –
A small ensemble of women that have come together to uplift the name of the Lord in song. Rehearsal: Tuesday from 7:30 – 9:00 pm.

Male Chorus:
Leader – Bro. Stoney Lee
A ministry of men of all ages that come together to uplift the name of the Lord in song. Rehearsal: Tuesday from 7:30 – 9:00 pm.

Mighty Voices of Victory:
Leader – Cordero Bush
I Corinthians 15:58 “Be Ye Steadfast unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” Rehearsal: Monday from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.

Praise Team Ministry:

Leader – Bro. Cordero Bush
Mondays at 6:00pm.

Teen Choir:
Leader –
A unique but diverse group of young people that specialize in proclaiming the Word of God. Expressing themselves through music helps them to connect to God in a way that cannot be explained or understood in the natural eye. This generation is built on music and if we are ever going to reach this generation, we will need to meet youth where they are. Rehearsal: Saturdays 3:30pm.

Women’s Day Choir:
Leader – Sis. Katherine Gilbert
A group of Christian Women that come together to bring praises to our Lord and King. We minister during the month of November and during the Women’s Weekend.
